Rainbows! Pearls! And hoops like you’ve never seen them before…

I’ve always loved the beginning of summer, when we peel back the layers of sweaters and coats, and pile on the layers of glittering jewels instead. Something about the season always seems to put designers into a “go big or go home” mentality, and post-pandemic, Summer 2022 promises to be one of those bold moments that sets the tone for years to come.

The season is full of fun and funky trends, and color is definitely key. Look out for beads, big in every color of the rainbow. Outsized hoops and pearls can be found paired with a plethora of materials in varying vibrant colors. Chain link necklaces and jumbo cuffs are nostalgic staples making a welcome resurgence.

Take a peek below at our top five Summer 2022 favorite trends, and kickstart summer in style.

Unexpected Hoops

Hoops may be a forever classic, but the latest versions adorning earlobes come in fantastical forms. Chunky, wavy, with a splash of color, or crafted from unexpected enamel (or even rubber), they’re a playful take on the ever-evolving trend, and ideal for adding a pop of color to everyday ensembles.

Rainbow Beads

Why limit yourself to a single hue, when you can wear them all, all at once? Designers and jewelry lovers alike seem to be subscribing to this polychromatic philosophy for summer, with beaded jewelry in every shade imaginable. It’s a trend that works for all budgets, from high street to high end. Our favorite examples celebrate the natural varicolored variety of gemstones.

Chain Link Necklaces

Knotted, mixed metal, Cuban, double, long, short… no matter your preference, a chic chain necklace is a wardrobe staple worth splurging on. A top trend for the past two years, chunky gold chains still haven’t lost their shine. Ideal for wearing alone with just a swimsuit (and a tan), or in luxe layers to dress up a tee, these summer showstoppers work every which way.

Pearlcore

Definitely not your grandma’s pearls. From colossal gumball strands to sculptural influences, architectural shapes, and even pairings with unexpected mixed media, Pearlcore is the latest term to describe all the fabulously fun pearl pieces currently on offer.

Cuffs

The “It” accessory of the season debuted on a seemingly endless array of wrists and biceps on the Spring/Summer ‘22 runways. While no style is out of favor this season, two nostalgic trends stand strong: ‘80s-influenced statement numbers with everything from logos to stones, and sterling silver styles with a minimalist flair (a 1990’s staple).
