What Will The Ox Year Bring You?
Your Chinese horoscope jewelry guide
Today marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year, celebrating an opportunity to begin again. We're entering the Year of the Ox. People born under this sign are known for being reliable and determined. This year, slow and steadfast, promises success through diligent, conscientious effort—especially for those born in an Ox year.
There are twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac. Legend has it that when creating the calendar, the Jade Emperor called all the creatures on Earth to take part in a race to visit him where he ruled the cosmos. The first twelve to cross the finish line were assigned a place in the calendar. The winners were: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig (in that winning order).
It's customary to wear a piece of jewelry representing your animal sign for protection against bad luck in China. Whether you're celebrating with a feast, a freshly painted front door, cleaning your house, or all of the above, you can also gift yourself or someone a shiny mascot. Here’s a fortune-telling about how your Ox year could play out.
