Florals, For Spring

These actually are pretty groundbreaking

Pretty and pastel? So passé. Jewelry designers are embracing a different side to flora these days, one that’s fantastical and fashion-forward. Think vividly-colored gemstones and metals as intensely hued as hothouse blooms. The trend has blossomed rapidly, garnering loving looks from industry insiders and aficionados for its fresh appeal. Below, some of our favorite “picks.”

Iris

Hugo Kreit created his eponymous Paris-based jewelry brand in September 2020. His marvelously unique creations “challenge classical beauty and propose a transgressive approach.” Here, cast aluminum is hand-painted with liquid chrome, making his floral motifs an ideal (not to mention, crazily covetable) example of the funky floral trend.

Citrus Rainbow

If you’re a floral jewelry lover, you might already have one of Anabela Chan’s breathtaking floral creations on your wishlist. Her strikingly colorful lab-grown gemstones stand out against equally eye-catching metals. (Case in point? This recycled-rainbow-aluminum double bloom ring.)

Savannah

Scott & Co. Fine Jewelers is based in New Oxford, PA in an industrial style showroom that offers everything from custom to estate jewels. That includes statement pieces, like these bold brass tropical numbers that encompass the trend in an affordable way.

Eron

From Taipei, Taiwan, Melted Potato is an apt appellation for a brand whose aesthetic mirrors melting objects. Each piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind, so they are literally works of art in ornamental wearable form.

Amethyst and Blue Topaz

Family-run, NY-based Bounkit works with gemstone cutters from around the globe. Blossoms in every shape, size, and color are a big part of the brand, as are interchangeable styles like these beauties, that allow the wearer to embrace a single bloom or a full bouquet, day or night.

Systematic Sonata Ring

Jing Zhao and Gearry Suen are the co-founders of London’s sculpture jewelry studio, G Suen. Their one-of-a-kind, award-winning creations consist of unique chromatic palettes with “bespoke-coloured titanium, full breadth of light reflection, shapes emerging from VR and wearable newness.” Or in layman’s terms, creations like you’ve never seen before.

G Suen “Systematic Sonata” ring in 18-k gold and silver with yellow and white diamonds, green and blue sapphires, Paraiba tourmalines, red spinels, garnets, and yellow zircon, Price Upon Request at G Suen
