Feast your eyes on these gems

The temps (and the hemlines) may rise, but it never quite feels like summer until the first berries hit the farm stands and the first ‘dogs hit the grill. Maybe that’s why so many designers seem to be celebrating the season this year with foodie-friendly treats, both classic and au courant.

Whether you’re paleo, pescatarian, or a confirmed carnivore, here’s a veritable smorgasbord of summer style everyone can enjoy.

Strawberry

Andres Gallardo officially launched in 2011. Initially a small-scale project, the brand has since evolved into a contemporary powerhouse that crafts unique porcelain pieces in Spain and Portugal. The “Berry” collection consists of beautifully realistic strawberries that can be worn in every form, from ear cuffs to pins and multi-finger rings to bracelets.

Shrimp Cocktail

Caitlin Mociun is a California native with a New York-based brand influenced by her travels and inspired by Bauhaus design principles (think “simple, unexpected elegance”). Ring enthusiasts may recognize her clustered gemstone pieces, but she’s created a plethora of collections, including one titled “Fine Foods,” made up of sophisticated-yet-kitschy everyday snacks.

Veggie Burger

Designer Nadine Ghosn set a goal with her brand to “make ordinary products extraordinary” and she does just that with her luxuriously covetable jewels (made by Lebanese artisans). Her best-sellers include a “Paper Clip” bracelet, “Bon Bon Block” rings, and this yummy “Veggie Burger” stack—a set of six jewel encrusted rings, complete with champagne-diamond mustard detail.

Pineapple

A passion for fine gemstones and spirituality leads Celine D’Aoust in producing her organically refined creations. Each piece is full of symbolism, like these pineapple studs (which evoke generosity and hospitality) with moonstones (said to help balance emotions and drive inner growth).

French Fries

Fans of glitter know to look to Judith Leiber for high-fashion sparkle and shine. Leiber may be known for her whimsical minaudieres, but it’s not just her bags that should be on collectors’ must-have lists. Her jewelry stands on its own, especially the witty food charms that showcase what every glitter-chaser really wants: fun, sparkles, and a snack.

Chilli Peppers

Sandra Alexandra’s designs are handmade by artisans with “the intricate manipulation of different raw materials such as glass, metals, and pearls.” Food is a key theme, with a “Grocery Shopping” collection that consists of a variety of fine materials in fruit and vegetable form.

Pizza

Q-pot is a Japanese brand of uniquely hand-crafted, wearable art (a.k.a.: jewelry). There is no lack of creativity in their tongue-in-cheek products, including, of course, plenty of provision-inspired pieces. No mouthwatering collection would be complete without a slice of pizza—and the molten “cheese" makes it even more deliciously covetable.
