Todd Reed is an award-winning artist-jeweler whose work has historically challenged the established concepts of high jewelry and luxury design. Reed’s singular style—incorporating raw and natural colored diamonds with recycled metals—created an entirely new category of jewelry, rebranding the notions of “luxury” in the process.

Reed was 17-years-old when he started his custom jewelry business. His mother inspired his first business name after Reed asked her if she would make him business cards. She said, “The best of something is called touchstone. That's the thing that everything measures against." And so, Touchstone Heritage Jewelry was born along with Reed’s first business card. It took Todd a few years to realize he wanted to do more than make jewelry—he wanted to be a heritage brand that stood for the finest, not only jewelry but objects and luxury experiences in the world.

Reed was 20 when he changed his business to embody himself, his brand, Todd Reed. Creating his namesake was a realization that he was doing relevant work, people were interested, and he honed in on sustainability. In 1992, sustainability was a niche in the US, especially in the jewelry industry on the heels of the opulent ‘80s. Reed felt that his purpose wasn’t just about jewelry—it was about the jewelry industry, people, sourcing, and ultimately, community.

The Bench

Built in 2010, the Showroom reflects Reed’s home. Created with comfort and ease in mind, the entire Todd Reed building on Pearl Street has the feel of a modern art gallery with natural highlights such as a water wall, blooming rare florals, and fragrant rosemary.

Each quarter, an in-house artist creates multi-media art installations for Todd Reed’s window displays using raw, hand-made repurposed materials.

Enclosed glass walls separate the Showroom from the corporate offices and production studio, allowing visitors to watch the jewelers as they create.

FEATURED DESIGNS

The way Todd Reed jewelry is made is a key part of their story: artist and artisans in collaboration.

A system of monograms (hallmarks) have been created for each master jeweler. Together with the Todd Reed signature hallmark, the stamps become a statement of provenance that acknowledges the relationship each maker has with the pieces they create.

The result is a work of art that speaks to the wearer. It tells the story of its own making in the voice of the artisan and the unmistakable language of the artist.

Salon Series

Reed created the Salon Series to connect hearts and minds by having professionals unrelated to jewelry talk about their exquisite experiences in his showroom. For example, world renowned portrait photographer, George Lange (right). Reed moderates discussions where athletes, authors, doctors, teachers, architects, and politicians have shared their unique stories.

I’d like to encourage people to follow their passion in life without any boundaries. My passion is making beautiful things, connecting with people whose passion is consuming beautiful things, and putting beautiful things back out into the world.

TODD REED GIVES BACK

“The customer experience is really about community,” says Reed. Not only does Reed invite family, friends, and even pets to experience his store with you, he hosts public and private events and community dinners in his showroom.

Reed initiates more than 80 community-building events each year around the US and internationally to support the idea that art and commerce build community. For example, each year Reed closes the store for a couple of days and bakes 500 pies with his staff for a local non-profit. Then they deliver the (beautiful) pies to families in need.
